The Two Most Powerful Assessment Tools: Eyes and Ears
Biomechanics = Common Sense
A patient who cycles recently acquired new foot clips. He presented with worsening foot pain, and told me had a heel spur. Here’s a picture of his foot and shoe:
The pain was at the lateral edge of the foot, about a third of the way up from the heel—just where his foot goes out and the shoe goes in!
My recommendation: New shoes & joint manipulation (fibula, cuboid, talus & calcaneus) along with instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization. An orthotic was also suggested.
Outcome: Back to having fun cycling
