Improving posture benefits more than just your body and overall wellness. Standing up straight makes people think you look more intelligent! At least that’s the conclusion of an article in today’s Wall Street Journal.
Psychologists, marketing and branding experts, and other leaders in human behavior were interviewed about tactics people use to look smart. When asked what was effective, standing or sitting up straight, as well as looking people in the eye were at the top of the list for conveying intelligence. Using big words and putting on a serious facial expression, however, were not.
Other factors that worked: Using a middle initial and wearing glasses.
Dr. Steven P. Weiniger’s Takeaway: Dad was right – stand straight and confident, speak from the heart and look people in the eye.
